Reminder for Mrs. Hayes:

* Grade tough (require 10-15 facts from each reading) -- double check with Julie.
* Have (challenging and straight-forward readings)

Example: http://www.commonsensemedia.org/about-us/press-room/press-releases/online-privacy-poll --
R -- Read the URL -- Commonsense Media is a reliable website because it is non-partisan, not-for-profit organization that advocates media sanity.
E -- Examine the content. The content of the webpage explains a poll that Commonsense Media took of parents and children and the results were that 3 out of 4 parents felt Social Networks were not protecting children. I trust the validity of this site because the article gives specifics about the poll -- 2,100 adults were surveyed between Aug. 13 and Aug. 16, 2010, and 401 teenagers (ages 15-18) were surveyed between Aug. 18 and Aug. 20, 2010. Also, the information is current with the date of October 2010.
A -- The author and publisher are Commonsense Media, which I explained above.
L -- Links -- The article gives links to an email; you may send for the complete poll, if you want more information.
Below is an example of a paragraph!
This -- http://www.commonsensemedia.org/about-us/press-room/press-releases/online-privacy-poll -- is a good site because the article is written and published by Commonsense Media, a non-partisan, not-for-profit organization that advocates media sanity. The article itself is recent or current, with a date of October 2010. The content is solid, referring to a Wall Street Journal story about Facebook in which reporters explained how that Social Networking Site was tracking users. The article gives specifics about the poll: 2,100 adults were surveyed between Aug. 13-16, 2010, and 401 teens (15-18) were surveyed between Aug. 18-20, 2010. The article does not convey opinion, but the facts of the poll. The links are helpful because the article provides an email link if you want a copy of the complete poll.
